Miracle in a Box - Bill

Miracle in a Box (a Piano Reborn) (2009) - Documentary narrated by John Lithgow. "Completely captivating"  Pacific Sun.

The documentary covers the odyssey of a donated Steinway piano, a piano competition and the piano's restoration. In this inspiring film, the loving restoration of a 1927 Steinway is done by a dedicated band of artisans in an atmosphere of clam assurance and easy humor.  Hewing to standards as fine as 1/10 of a gram, the crew at Callahan Piano strives to make the instrument transparent, able to respond instantly and evenly to any performer.
Two dozen pieces of music provide the score, from classical to jazz to boogie-woogie.  And the finale is the party given for both the piano and its new owner, the student winner of the First Berkeley Piano Competition.

Film by John Korty, Oscar nominee for "Breaking the Habit" (1964) and Oscar winner for "Who are the Debolts? [and Where did They Get Nineteen Kids?]" (1977).
